John Lennon was a pretentious asshole. He wasn't even doing anything original or new. He was the mainstream version of hundreds of bands who were doing the same thing, better. You can love John Lennon all you want, but the fact remains, he wasn't any sort of visionary of unique character. He was the most popular of a popular movement. A sort of Nsync, so to speak.
